How-To Block

For best SEO practice, structured data can be added to step-by-step tutorials by using the how-to block. In order to be eligible for how-to structured data markup, the following conditions must be met:

1. The post must be a how-to guide.
2. The post must contain a single how-to guide, not multiple how-to guides.
3. The post must contain a single set of instructions for completing the task, not multiple different ways to complete the same task.
4. The post must contain at least two How-To Step blocks.

Using How-To Blocks

Select the how-to block from the block library. Add a title for the how-to step and text that describes the step in detail. 

One step should be assigned per block. Add multiple how-to step blocks to complete building the how-to tutorial.

Enabling structured data

After using the how-to blocks, an additional step is needed to enable how-to structured data. Scroll to the bottom of the edit post page to the How-To Schema section. If the post meets all the requirements for how-to schema, check the Eligible for Schema box.

Tools & Materials

If a how-to post contains a tools or materials list, this can be included in the how-to structured data markup by using the Tools & Materials block. Select the Tools & Materials block from the content library and fill in the required fields. Only one Tools & Materials block can be added per post. 

Optional internal or external links may be added to the tools and materials list.

After adding the tools and materials list, the Eligible for Schema checkbox in the How To Schema section can be checked.
